
Lusya Chalovskaya Monument
On 22 June, 1941 the German Army invaded the USSR. The war began. Young girl, Lusya Chalovskaya, finished the 8th form, school № 2 in Borisov at that time. She got involved in underground resistance movement and became a partisan courier,a Komsomol member. This brave girl obtained information for partisans about the location of German troops, helped them to get false papers and to hide weapons. Her courage and self-assurance having become legendary. Due to her heroism the lives of many people were saved. On 3October, 1943 Lusya Chalovskaya was betrayed. The Nazis arrested her and were torturing her for more than a month. But Lusya never let out a single word. Lusya Chalovskaya was shot.
For her heroism, Lusya Chalovskaya was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. A street in Borisov is named in honour of a young partisan . Lusya Chalovskaya. The monument to Lusya Chalovskaya was erected in the main street of her native town.
