
Piotr Lopatin Street
Piotr Lopatin was a commander of the legendary partisan brigade “ Uncle Kolya”. His people blew up more than 1000 wagons and stations, 8 bridges and 32 warehouses.
His brigade took part in many remarkable war operations: “Cottbus”, “Baklan”. But the operation “Citadel” was the most significant in the history of the World War II. The German officer Carl Krug fell in love with a Belarusian girl Vera Tabolevich.So, it was Krug who informed partisans about the plan “Citadel” which later became known as the battle on the Kursk Ark. The contribution of his brigade to the defeat of Nazism was enormous.
For his heroism Piotr Lopatin was later awarded the title of Hero of the Sovient Union for his gallantry. The main street in Borisov is named in honour of Piotr Lopatin. Piotr Lopatin died on July 9, 1974.
